Sustainable PR fuels Renua Energy’s expansion into Western New York State.

The Client:

Renua Energy is a state and federally-certified service-disabled veteran-owned small business (SDVOSB) located in South Glens Falls, providing consulting and development services for community solar projects, and electric charging solutions for local businesses. The company was founded and is led by Dave Byrne, who began his career in solar energy as a residential solar installer and worked in various roles in the industry prior to establishing Renua Energy.

Dave engaged Sustainable PR to assist him in expanding Renua’s EV charging portfolio from the company’s base in New York’s capital region into Western New York.

The Challenge:

The Sustainable PR team was tasked with generating media exposure in local media to support sales efforts. where the company had identified as lacking in EV infrastructure. Renua’s team had a phenomenal track record in the capital region, because the team had no physical footprint in the communities, local media outlets lacked an obvious angle for their hyper-local reporting.

The Solution:

Sustainable PR’s team zeroed in on Renua’s EV charging installation project at the First Unitarian Universalist Society of Syracuse in East Syracuse, one of the team’s target markets. The church was extremely happy with the project and offered to provide a testimonial. That was the ammunition needed to approach local media outlets. Sustainable PR identified all East Syracuse news publications and pitched editorial opportunities to highlight the community’s infrastructure improvements. The agency was able to connect with a reporter from Eagle News – the East Syracuse region’s community newspaper – who agreed to speak with both Renua and a representative from the First Unitarian Universalist Society to write a feature on the installation and how it was benefiting the congregation and local businesses. The piece provided a foothold in the region to leverage with media outlets and reporters throughout Western New York.

The Results:

As a result of Sustainable PR’s efforts in East Syracuse, Renua Energy was able to establish itself in the Western New York Market. Representation in the local media market not only assisted in spreading the word about Renua’s service offerings but also established credibility for the company in a new market. The Renua team went on to join the regional chamber of commerce to amplify their commitment to the area and continued to network throughout the region, gained traction, and added to their pipeline of EV installations.
