Sustainable PR statement on President Biden’s UN & Climate Week speeches

In two years, Sustainable PR has supported over 30 renewable energy projects in multiple states thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act

Glens Falls, NY, September 25, 2024 – Following President Biden’s speech to the United Nations General Assembly and address to the Bloomberg Global Business Forum as part of Climate Week NYCSustainable PR Founder and Principal Tony DeFazio released the following statement:

“At the United Nations this morning, President Biden reaffirmed the United States’ leadership in confronting global challenges like climate change, extreme weather, hunger and disease—and he appealed to citizens of all nations to meet these challenges head-on, in the spirit of international cooperation.

“Later, President Biden spoke to business leaders and climate entrepreneurs, highlighting the remarkable progress made—and emphasizing the barriers yet to be surmounted—in achieving the emissions reduction goals set forth by the United States and global community.

“Make no mistake, under the Biden administration, the United States has already made tremendous progress in fostering climate innovation and incentivizing renewable energy development. Two years ago, I wrote that the Biden administration’s signature climate policy— the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022—was ‘poised to unleash a wave of innovation across our economy, transforming the marketplace for American companies, large and small, at the forefront of our clean-energy future.’ This proved no understatement, and today, thanks to the IRA and private-sector innovation, the United States has achieved well over a third of its 2030 emissions-reduction goals while also growing our economy, lowering energy costs, and creating over 300,000 American jobs.

“But significant challenges remain. Without further pro-climate, pro-growth policies, the United States may ultimately fall short of its emissions-reduction goals. And without American leadership, the global community cannot meet this urgent moment for our planet. Building on the Biden administration’s progress starts with ensuring the Inflation Reduction Act is fully implemented and enacting serious permitting reform, which will streamline the processes for siting and approving renewable energy projects at home. It also means that the world’s wealthy nations, starting with the United States, must redouble their promises to help finance clean energy capacity in the developing world. Without such policies, we risk the remarkable progress we have already made toward a cleaner planet and sustainable future.”

Without proactive community engagements programs, none of these projects will get approved.

Developers need to recognize that same old same old will not do.  Only proactive community engagement to understand underpinnings of community resistance will get projects permitted.  That means putting boots on the ground to build bridges to get deals done.

Developers need to wake up and finance proactive community engagement programs or risk never getting their projects approved.

Hiring a Green PR firm is the only way to win.
